Fort Martin Scott
This site was originally a federal fort established in 1848 to guard the frontier. With 21 buildings, Fort Martin Scott served the public until 1853. Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival
The Annual Jaycees’ Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival returns to Downtown Marktplatz, Fredericksburg, Texas, Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25, 2014. Kerrville Folk Festival

Louise Hays Park
Admission to this park is free. The Guadalupe River passes through the park making a natural pool. Located in the heart of downtown, Louise Hays Park has scenic areas and shaded picnic tables, where visitors can enjoy day outings. Visitors can also go to Tranquility Island through a footbridge crossing the river.

National Museum of the Pacific War – Fredericksburg
Formerly known as the Admiral Nimitz Museum, this national museum now houses several historic exhibits over a nine-acre site. The museum features the George Bush Gallery, Admiral Nimitz Museum, Plaza of Presidents, Veterans’ Walk of Honor, Japanese Garden of Peace, Pacific Combat Zone, and the Center for Pacific War Studies. Featured displays include two castings that would have been the third or fourth atomic bomb.
Today, the museum includes exhibits on the life and career of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, who commanded the U.S. and allied naval forces in the Pacific War, and who was born right here in Fredericksburg.
It also includes displays of Allied and Japanese aircraft, tanks, guns, other artifacts and, the most moving of all, the personal stories of our troops.
On scheduled weekends throughout the year, the Pacific Combat Zone is the site of a living history program. Re-enactors bring World War II to life by demonstrating the weapons and discussing the tactics and strategy that won the war.

Pioneer Museum Complex
This museum complex center features a fully furnished eight-room Victorian pioneer home that was built in 1849. A wine cellar, smokehouse, log cabin, wagon shed and a blacksmith shop are also located inside the complex. Special attractions include a fire museum with early fire-fighting equipment.
The historic Pioneer Museum Complex includes 3.5 acres and 12 different historic buildings- the Kammlah Homestead, an authentic Sunday Haus, School Haus, log cabin and more- all in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas.
The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays and offers self-guided tours of the grounds. Several times a year, the Pioneer Museum also hosts special living history events- where visitors can find costumed reenactors and participate in period activities.

Travel back in time with these scenes from the Sauer-Beckmann living history farm at LBJ State Historic Site. This working-farm re-creates the farm life of the early 1900s in Texas.
