Heritage Farmstead Museum
Turn-of-the-century farming on the Blackland Prairies of North Texas is captured in this recently completed restoration in Plano, 20 miles north of Dallas. The Heritage Farmstead Museum offers a four-acre complex with row crops, gardens, a windmill, and a handsome 1891 Victorian farmhouse with 12 original outbuildings.

Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park
Nestled in 13 wooded acres just south of downtown Dallas, Dallas Heritage Village provides visitors, both young & young at heart, a unique museum experience. The Village is a living history museum, portraying life in North Texas from 1840-1910 with permanent and temporary exhibits throughout 38 historic structures. A Civil War-era farm, elegant Victorian homes, a school, a church, as well as several commercial buildings represent the lives of Dallas’s earliest residents. During the fall and spring, the Village highlights historical themes and brings them to life through first-person characters dressed in period clothing. Self-guided and docent-led tours are available.

Farmers Branch Historical Park
The Historical Park is nestled within 22 acres that trace the proud heritage of Farmers Branch, from the 1840s through the 1940s. The Gilbert House, built between 1856-1857, is the oldest rock structure in Dallas County still on its original foundation. Other local historic structures on the grounds include the 1937 Dodson House, home of the first Mayor of Farmers Branch; a one-room school that was once part of the Farmers Branch school from 1900-1915; and the original Farmers Branch railroad depot, built in 1877. It also features other structures from outside of Farmers Branch which has been moved to the park for preservation.
