Honolulu is the capital and most populated city of Hawaii and located by the side of the southeast coast of Oahu island and usually designated as the complete island of Oahu. The name Honolulu means “Place of Shelter”. The Oahu administration control is under the county of Honolulu.
The sandy Hawaiian beaches, wonderful waves, impressive skyline view at Waikiki Beach and mountains, and the hotels along the shores make it a center of attraction.
Waikiki Beach
Waikiki Beach is one of the world popular beaches. The coastline is covered by white sand stretching for two miles. Modern hotels are lined along the shore. People swim, surf, rest, have a meal, and do shopping. High-rise hotels line the shore in Waikiki, a vibrant neighborhood known for its popular surf beach. Designer fashion stores line Kalakaua Avenue and nearby streets, and the area buzzes after dark with waterside cocktail bars, fine dining, and Kuhio Beach hula shows. Honolulu Zoo is home to Komodo dragons and wandering peacocks, while parrotfish and urchins inhabit Waikiki Aquarium’s reef exhibit.
Pearl Harbor
After the reputation on December 7, 1941, this site was honored to remember the 1500 troop members who mislaid their lives. The bridge over it allows viewing the coastline as well as the processing port.
Hanauma Bay Marine Preserve
World-famous Hanauma Bay – Hawaii Kai’s beautiful snorkel beach lagoon and marine life preserve. Well known tourist place which attracts by its wonderful beaches along blue-green waters. The preservation is done for marine wildlife with marvelous coral and tropical fish collection inviting more than 3 million visitors a year.
Hanauma is a marine embayment formed within a tuff ring and located along the southeast coast of the island of Oʻahu in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood of East Honolulu, in the Hawaiian Islands. Hanauma is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island and has suffered somewhat from overuse.
Diamond Head State Monument
The crater was engraved out of the eruption of a volcano. It was about 760 feet in height and 3,200 feet wide and still inactive for more than thousands of years. Trekking is possible to one particular piece through a dark tunnel.
Diamond Head Hawaii is a famous volcanic crater, located on the eastern edge of Waikiki’s coastline. The most recognized landmark is known as Leahi (brow of the tuna) in Hawaiian. The crater was named “Diamond Head” by 19th century British sailors saw calcite crystals sparkling in the sunshine and thought they had found diamonds on the crater’s slopes. These “diamonds” were actually shiny calcite crystals that had no value.
Waikiki Aquarium
This oldest Aquarium of the US was started during 1904 and abode more than 2,500 aquatic animals. It is located very near to Waikiki beach and draws more than 3.5 lacks of visitors every year. Waikiki Aquarium is a nice place to visit especially for families. It’s not huge but for sure the kids will enjoy it.
Queen Emma Summer Palace
This Palace is the illustration of Greek architecture and a retreat during summer for Queen Emma. It is constructed in 1848 and situated in Nu`uanu Valley. Now it is the museum with a lot of assortment of Queen Emma’s property, including masterpieces and furniture. The Palace can also be hired for weddings and business meetings. Currently, it is preserved by the Daughters of Hawaii.
U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii
The museum graphically encloses the military tale from olden days to the present Gulf War of Hawaii. Photographs give a live experience with audio effects, but Helicopters, tanks, and guns are now silenced.
Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum
It is a historic museum and located between Honolulu International Airport and Downtown. It houses the piece of work from the 18th century’s Hawaiian kingdom, planetarium and cultural shows and melting lava’s presentation. Bishop Museum is the premier place to experience the history, arts and culture of the Hawaiian people. We are recognized throughout the world for our scientific research, educational programs, and extensive collections which give voice to the stories of Hawai‘i and the broader Pacific.
Cedar Street Galleries
It highlights more than 250 historical and modern, both budding and recognized artists representing the local flavor of the island. It is also possible to find the wonderful abstracts and realism of landscapes, seascapes, flora, and fauna.
Iolani Palace
In 1882, King Kalakaua constructed the palace. Now it presents a quick view of the residence of the two royals one King Kalakaua and his sister Queen Lili`uokalani. Highly finished wood flooring gives a marvelous look to the palace. One of Hawaii’s treasured and historic places, Iolani Palace is the only royal palace in the United States and had electricity, flushing toilets and telephones long before many other places.
Halona Blowhole
The Halona Blowhole can be found on the south side of Oahu along the coastal highway, just 5 minutes down the road from Hanauma Bay, and neighboring Eternity Beach & Sandy Beach. The famous reef blowhole is best viewed in windy and stormy sea conditions, or when the surf is up on this side of the island. This is naturally formed by molten lava during an eruption about 2 lacs years ago. The lava tubes are carried to the ocean and during the proper wave, this Halona blows to 30 feet.
