While visiting and discovering Downtown Miami, we stayed at the Intercontinental Miami. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Miami.
When we first pulled up to the lobby, it was a “wow” moment. The hotel is built with marble, the entrance is bright and inviting, and the staff is amazing. As soon as you pull up to the Intercontinental’s front doors, you definitely feel like you are about to have a wonderful time. Everyone is so nice and is committed to making sure that you are having a great time and that you don’t need anything. I really like that you can text them to bring you stuff (like getting your car ready, any issue with your room, etc.). I thought that was an excellent customer service feature.
Our room had an unbelievable view of the bay. I liked how modern everything was, even though the hotel was built in 1982. When you go on the elevator, you can choose your floor on a digital screen. I thought it was a neat touch.
The hotel has 641 very spacious rooms and 31 floors. You can imagine how amazing the views are on the highest floor. As a luxury hotel, the Intercontinental has great amenities, like an amazing spa if you want to relax and get a good massage or a facial.
On the rooftop, you will have access to the pool, where you can sip a refreshing cocktail at the Bluewater restaurant while looking over the Biscayne Bay.
If you want to stay in shape, you can go for a workout at the gym.
Downstairs in the lobby, you will find a little store, a Starbucks (which is great if you want to grab a drink before heading out, and their amazing signature Latino restaurant called Toro Toro by chef and owner Richard Sandoval.
The food and the drinks are delicious. You definitely need to try their Sunday Bottomless Brunch. It was one of the best buffets I ever had. There are so many choices and options for everyone. We were there for Cinco de Mayo, so they had a delicious taco section. Everything was amazing.
If you are going to eat at the restaurant and you are an ice-cream fan like me, you have to get a “Bomba” (OMG! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!). It is a chocolate bowl with strawberry, vanilla, and dulce de leche ice creams, Graham crackers topped with berries, and strawberry/caramel/dulce de leche sauces.
We had the chance to try the chef’s new menu, and it was delicious. I am a meat person, but I have to tell you about the seabass: it was so perfectly prepared that it was one of the best fish I’ve ever had. The cocktails are handcrafted and delicious.
The good news is that you do not have to stay at the hotel to try this restaurant, so if you are in Miami and you are looking for a good place to eat, I highly recommend this one.
This hotel is perfect if you are leaving or arriving from a cruise. It is located minutes from the harbor. We could actually see the cruise boats from our room!
If you are traveling without a car, then you are in luck: Intercontinental Miami is located right by the metro mover station (the free metro that goes around Downtown and Brickell Miami). You also get easy access to the electric scooters that are available throughout Downtown Miami, which are very helpful to travel for short distances.
We had a wonderful time at the Intercontinental Miami, and we will definitely consider going back during our next trip to this incredible city.
