Things to do in Frankfurt Germany
Families can enjoy many activities in Frankfurt. It’s a great city with wonderful people and places to visit. Near Frankfurt is the Opel Zoo, with many things that will make children smile of all ages. There are a petting zoo and a playground which will also give mom and dad some relaxation as the children will be able to release some of that energy that they tend to keep pent up during travel.
Opel Zoo
The Opel Zoo is located amidst the scenic slopes of the Vordertaunus between Kronberg and Königstein. In a unique way, he presents around 1,600 animals from more than 230 species, mostly from Africa, Asia, and Europe. These include the only elephants in Hesse, giraffes, zebras, meerkats, red pandas, cheetahs, kangaroos, and many more.
To show the animals in social associations, in natural enclosures and as far as possible without visible boundaries between humans and animals, was already the goal of the zoo founder Dr. Ing. Georg von Opel. Circular paths and nature trails on the 27-hectare zoo grounds provide unhindered insights into the variedly designed enclosures, which are otherwise only possible with outdoor observations. Another attraction is the generous plant for African penguins, where the zoo visitors can watch the birds through 8 cm thick slices directly while swimming and diving.
Vogelburg
Vogelburg is a nature park where birds, particularly parrots can be enjoyed. It is also a great place for the family to get the kids out and go for a walk in the outdoors. Most outdoor activities are ideal for the family for children. The VOGELBURG , located in the middle of the Hochtaunus Nature Park, is a bird park of a very special kind. It is a popular leisure and holiday facility with a unique variety of hand-tame parrots. In addition to the artistic design with historical components, the many bamboo species, the parrot school, and the café garden, the VOGELBURG has developed into a refuge and retirement home for parrots birds.
Liebig Museum
Liebig Museum is also not far away. Known as a predominantly ‘chemistry’ museum, there are fun, hands-on things that kids will enjoy. The Justus Liebig Museum is the historical laboratory of the chemist Justus von Liebig, in which he worked from 1824 to 1852. Initially, the laboratory remained out of pure lack of money but essentially preserved essentially unchanged due to the prudence of individuals. It is now considered a stroke of luck that the Liebig Laboratory is counted among the ten most important museums in the history of chemistry.
Taunus Wunderland Freizeitpark
Taunus Wunderland Freizeitpark is a theme park in the local area. This is a fairly land style theme park that also has a petting zoo with some exotic animals. In 1998, the Barth family purchased the park and made a lot of changes to update the park and make it a better experience for the family. There is a load of things to do here and the young and old will both enjoy the experience. Rides called the Pirate Boat and the Dragon Ride were added after the park was renovated. In 2007 more rides were added and the petting zoo was expanded. There are even monkeys there now.
The sun tickles your nose, the trees sway in the wind. The leaves rustle quietly. You breathe deeply, listen and hear … your own cry of joy. Then you open your eyes, pull your arms up and shoot like a bolt of lightning around the curve. Your heart beats faster, your knees are soft and your hair is flying in the wind. With a jerk, you come to a stop. You are beaming and ready for the next attraction.
Jumpinn
The Jumpinn at Ladenburg is not far away. This is a play and recreation park that is considered a one of a kind adventure for children. This is a fun place for the family to go and actually play together. Also not far away is Kurpfalzpark, which is a water park. Obviously, this is a place that you can only enjoy if you are there in the warmer months. If you find yourself near Frankfurt during the warm season, there is nothing more fun for children than a water park with slides and wave pools to enjoy.
Ideally, the family should enjoy experiences together when vacationing and you should look for places that you can all enjoy together. The suggestions above are all made with the family experience in mind. While some places might be fun and learning experiences, other places are just simply mentioned as places to forget about all things other than playing and having fun. Enjoy your vacation, whichever things you choose to do.
