De Soto National Memorial Beach

You can stroll with your dog along the elevated wooden walkways that wind through the mangroves in Bradenton’s Desoto National Memorial Park before emerging onto the Tampa Bay shore. This area’s shallow, clean water is ideal for your dog to play and have fun in.
A mangrove forest resembling the one that De Soto’s soldiers would have met upon landing is one of the Florida ecosystems that the Nature Trail passes through as it meanders down the shoreline and across. The De Soto Expedition’s history as well as the local natural history are explained with interpretative markers and waysides on the trails. The parking lot is bicycle-friendly, but the sidewalks and paths are not. While wandering the trails, your dog will appreciate taking a little dip to stay cool.
