The town of Castries is close-by and is a neat region that strikes a balance between island tranquility and urbanization. From Choc Beach, Castries is not far away, roughly two miles (three and a half kilometers).
Food
One of the best ways to round off a laid-back trek to the beach is to dine at a nearby restaurant, where you’ll be able to sample the local chefs’ favorite dishes, without having to stray too far. One of the closest places to eat is The Wharf. The restaurant serves Caribbean food. They’re also renowned for their hamburgers and seafood. A major perk of this restaurant is that it’s only a short walk away.
Malabar Beach
While not overly urbanized, this is a beach that does see quite a number of visitors. Its location adjacent to the the runway of Vigie Airport make it quick and easy to access for those staying along the northwest coast – the most popular tourist area.
On the North edge of Saint Lucia, Malabar Beach is a beautiful stretch of shoreline in the vicinity of Castries, in Saint Lucia; it’s one and a quarter miles (two kilometers) to the north-northeast of Castries. Many of the beaches in St. Lucia are quiet and secluded, but Malabar Beach offers those same relaxation qualities without sacrificing a fun and social atmosphere.
How to Access The Beach
The beach is simple to access by car, taxi, or on foot. It’s located just off the Castries – Gros Islet Hwy south of Choc Beach. You’ll find it behind the M&C Home Depot.
Amenities and Ambiance
The golden sands of Malabar Beach sit right in between Choc Beach and the Vigie Airport, where you’ll find scores of beachgoers lounging in chairs under umbrellas, and many others in the gentle, blue waters of the bay. Off to the right, you’ll have a lovely view of nearby Rat Island. The beach is very close to popular shopping and dining spots.
If you’re suddenly hungry or thirsty, the concession stand at Malabar Beach is the ultimate convenience. Depending on the season and time of day, you may also be able to order lunch from one of the local vendors who set up shop at the beach.
Please note that public restrooms are not available, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.
Since Malabar Beach is of course found in an area popular for visitors., you might want consider the time when you plan your visit.
What’s Nearby
This spot is on St. Lucia’s North coast. It is near some interesting sites like Choc Cemetery, which is in a location you can walk to, and it is one of the local attractions.
Some may think that beaches and museums are an odd combination, but some visitors find that museums like St. Lucia Folk Research Centre (located fairly close-by) offer a fun learning experience and a whole new way to view St. Lucia’s traditions and culture.

Castries is nearby and is an interesting area that brings together the quietude of the Caribbean and the urbanization of city life. From Malabar Beach, Castries is a quick trip away, about one and a quarter miles (two kilometers).

The number of other vacationers sharing this coastline can vary widely, depending on everything from the time of day to how full the nearby hotels are. You can generally expect to encounter a fair number of vacationers who are staying in the area. Because this beach is in a pretty popular tourist area, it typically isn’t much of a challenge to find a hotel close-by that suits your needs.
