St Augustine tours are fun, historic, interesting, and even romantic. Be sure to take a tour or two while you are visiting our beautiful old city. Whether you have arrived in St Augustine on one of those great Budget Holiday Deals or whether you are just visiting friends or family, there are no excuses for missing out on our famous local professionally run tours.
Touring the city is easy; you can walk, ride a green trolley or red train, or even a horse-drawn carriage. Just park your car, sit back, relax and leave the driving to the professionals.
Keep in mind that finding a parking space can be extremely difficult. We do have a new parking garage with plenty of parking but it’s a bit of a walk to get to the sites.
So, hop aboard! Getting Around is easy with one of our St Augustine Tours
Old Town Trolley Tours (Green Trolleys) or Ripley’s Sightseeing Trains (Red Trains) – a great way to see the city and all it has to offer. Step on board for a narrated tour with on-off privileges at many stops along the way.
We’ve tried to decide which is the best, the red trains or the green trolleys, but we‘re having a difficult time.
Both companies offer a one-hour narrated tour, ticket prices are close to the same, the tour route is about the same and both company’s tickets are valid for three days (now that’s a bargain!). Oh yes, both companies offer a free shuttle service.
So, we’re going to recommend both. I think you’ll have a great time with either one.
You’ll find many other delightful St Augustine tours, there are boats in the bay and ghosts (so they say) along the way, these tours are the best of the best!

St. Augustine Carriage Tours
A fun and relaxing way to see the downtown sites. The horses clip-clop along at a delightful pace reminiscent of days long past. Sit back, relax and listen to the sound of the horses as they pull your carriage around St Augustine carriage tours offer a unique perspective of our city. Knowledgeable drivers share our history as you wander along narrow, quaint streets. As you drive by the bayfront you’ll see the horses lined up just waiting for you.
Now, I think a St Augustine carriage tour is wonderful any time of the day or night and most any time of the year, although, sometimes in the summer it is a bit too hot for me and the horses. My favorite tour would be in December when it is a bit chilly, the Christmas lights are twinkling overhead and the sun has just set. Perfect!
A Ghostly Encounter
A not too scary, and very entertaining St. Augustine Ghost Tours. Begins nightly at the “certified haunted” Spanish Military Hospital on Aviles Street.
Your tour will begin at the Spanish Military Hospital Museum, a certified haunted building. The building has been featured on TNT’s Liars and Legends, The Travel Channel, The Today Show, First Coast News and SBC, CBS, and NBC local affiliates. And recently, the ghost hunter team from the Sci-Fi Channel came to investigate.
Inside you’ll visit the ward of the Haunted hospital then your knowledgeable guide will light the way as you safely travel through the haunted streets of St. Augustine. You’ll hear stories of those who came before us and refuse to leave.

Sea Tours St Augustine
Scenic Cruise
We love taking this boat ride. Almost every time we’ve been out on Victory III, dolphin have graced us with their presence as they swim alongside the boat.
The Scenic Cruise is, hands-down, one of our favorite ways to spend an evening, an afternoon, or late morning; gently cruising the Matanzas River aboard the Victory III with Captain Usina at the helm.
See the St. Augustine skyline, the Castillo, and the Mission Cross all from a very different perspective.
The Usina family has been ferrying folks around the bayfront since the early 1900’s. The family settled in the area known as North Beach which was accessible only by boat. Henry Flagler asked the Usina’s to hold oyster roasts for his wealthy friends and guests. The outings became a success and the family boat business was born.
The current fourth-generation Captain Usina is a wealth of knowledge. It is such fun to be toured about by a gentleman who loves his job and loves St. Augustine. Most times the Captain is able to bring the boat quite close to dolphin swimming in the bay and he will point out different shorebirds as you cruise along.
The one hour and fifteen minute St. Augustine Scenic Cruise depart from the St. Augustine Municipal Marina several times throughout the day. Our favorite is the sunset cruise. The departure time for this cruise varies with the season.
Schooner Freedom
A 72’ Tall Ship sets sail from the City Marina several times throughout the day. They also offer sunset sails and a ghost cruise.
There are three tours to choose from; day, evening, or the “Ghost of Matanzas” sail.
The day sail takes you into the bay where you can view historic St. Augustine from another vantage point. You can soak up the sun, feel the gentle sea breeze as you glide along, and, there is a good chance you will see plenty of marine life, including dolphins and manatees. Duration: 2, 3, or 4-hour sails available.
During the evening sail, you can relax after a long day and enjoy a romantic sunset as you gaze out at St. Augustine’s beautiful skyline and listen to relaxing music. Duration: 2 hours.
The “Ghost of Matanzas” tour is a one-hour tour providing an eerie setting for tales about ghosts and pirates that once plundered these very waters. This is definitely a fun and spooky adventure you will enjoy.
St. Augustine Eco Tours
St. Augustine Eco Tours provides private excursions aboard their rigid hull inflatable boat. I had never heard of this type of boat before but it seems to be the perfect craft for viewing wildlife at eye level and is extremely safe and stable.
On the tours, passengers often see bottlenose dolphins, a wide variety of birds, and occasionally even a manatee or sea turtle.
Although there is no guarantee, you are sure to see an interesting array of wildlife within the saltwater marshes, oyster beds, and small islands with tropical palm trees and bright flowers.
Ancient City Tours
Professional guide service, group tours, educational tours, and field trips, itinerary planning, individual tours; everything you need for your group. Ancient City Tours is your one-stop resource for group or individual St. Augustine tours. “No group is too large nor tour too small.”
Diane Lane has scoured St. Augustine to find the best tour guides in town. All are required to meet rigid standards. First and foremost, they must love St. Augustine, enjoy people, have the ability to relate well to children, and are just a tiny bit dramatic
You are certainly going to be busy!
