Disney Value Resorts, the least expensive of Walt Disney World Resorts, are on-site budget hotels that provide resort perks and family travel fun.
Walt Disney World Resort consists not only of the four major theme parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom – and other entertainment venues but more than 20 on-property hotels. Disney Value Resorts, the least expensive Disney hotels, offer a budget-friendly option for family travel.
Which Disney Resorts are Disney Value Resorts?
Disney Value Resorts offer four properties in two areas on Walt Disney World property. Disney’s three All-Star Resorts, located near Disney’s Animal Kingdom and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Pop Century is located near ESPN and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Art of Animation was built next to Pop Century.
There are three Disney’s All-Star Resorts: All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, and All-Star Sports. Each resort has between 1,500 and 1,900 rooms, in ten buildings, and has its own lobby and food court. Worth noting is that All-Star Music also provides 192 Family Suites for larger families.
The All-Stars’ primary difference is their themes, which are depicted through oversized pop-culture icons, bedding and room décor, and architectural details. For example, All-Star Music celebrates five musical genres: Broadway, calypso, country, jazz, and rock. Public areas also carry out the resort’s theme, from the central building to its swimming pools; they, however, mix genres.
Pop Century, a 2,880-room resort, takes a similar approach to the theme. Oversized icons depict decades of popular culture from the 1950s to the 1990s in its four-story guest buildings and common areas. Colorful icons depict such things as a bowling pin, Play-Doh, and several Disney movie characters.
Disney Value Resorts – Information About Hotel Rooms
Disney Value Resorts are priced lower than the other Walt Disney World Resort categories: Moderate, Deluxe Resorts, or Deluxe Villas (a Disney Vacation Club option). What does Disney Value Resorts provide – other than lower prices?
Guest rooms at Disney Value Resorts are Disney’s smallest at approximately 260 square feet. The standard rooms sleep four guests and Family Suites sleep six. As with other Disney rooms, Disney Value rooms include standard items: a coffee maker, hairdryer, television, ironing board, and wall safe (too small for laptops). Family suites include a master bedroom, living area, and a small kitchenette for preparing meals.
Small refrigerators are available for a fee; at Disney Moderates and above, the refrigerator is included in the room as part of the rates. An internet connection is also available for a fee, which is Disney’s standard policy for its properties.
In addition to size, there are smaller distinctions between Disney Values and other Walt Disney World hotels. The quality of the towels, beddings, and toiletries are of standard quality: clean but not as particularly luxurious. As a small perk, Mousekeeping – Disney housekeeping staff – tend to leave more towel animals at Values.
Disney Value Resorts – Budget Hotels with Resort Amenities
Disney’s Values look similar to motels, with exterior corridors (as are Disney Moderate Resorts). And their theming, as noted above, is more cartoonish than what is found at other Disney resorts. Compared to many off-property hotels that publish similar rates, however, Value resorts offer a decidedly Disney resort experience.
Disney Value Resorts combine budget travel accommodations with the convenience of a resort appealing to family travel. The Value food courts, often larger than those at other Disney Resorts, offer reasonably priced options for food and drink (including alcohol). Value Resorts do not, however, offer table-service dining. Each resort offers a poolside bar.
The resorts also offer several activities to entertain families and children. Although Disney Value resorts feature swimming pools without slides, each resort offers more than one pool as well as a kiddie pool. Cast Members host poolside activities: children’s activities, trivia contests, and movie nights. Value game rooms are often larger and more well-equipped than those found at other Disney hotel properties. Other activities, from ping pong to face painting, are also available at Disney’s Values.
Walt Disney World Resort Benefits
When evaluating Disney Value Resorts, guests, especially families with children, need to consider these on-property options as Disney’s version of budget hotels. They are not as spacious as other Disney hotels, nor do they offer all the amenities, but they are committed to offering a Disney experience.
Disney Value Resorts also offer the same benefits as other Disney Resort hotel. The following perks are available to all Walt Disney World Resort guests:
- Guaranteed admission into Disney theme parks;
- Disney’s Extra Magic Hours, allowing on-property guests to enter the parks on select days and times outside the parks’ published operating hours;
- Disney’s Magical Express, with free transportation to and from Orlando International Airport;
- Charging privileges; and
- Disney’s complimentary on-property transportation and free theme-park parking.
Despite their smaller size and rather standard rooms, Disney Value Resort rooms are clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Their public areas feature amenities and activities intended to appeal to families and those looking for a casual resort vibe. With their on-property location and other benefits, Disney Values are worth considering for guests traveling to Walt Disney World Resort on a budget.
