The Met is arguably one of the very top art museums in the world, and some would even consider it a “must see” for NYC visitors. It’s easy to see why the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known simply as the Met, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York City.
It is enormous, to say the least, and has an outstanding variety of things to see – over 2 million works of art from all over the world spanning 5,000 years of culture. Basically, you could walk around in it for days and still not see it all.
Walk Inside an Encyclopedia
Being in the Metropolitan Museum of Art is like walking around inside an encyclopedia. There is so much fascinating stuff right at your fingertips! Depending on your style, you can either casually peruse or pour over a subject and get really in-depth information.
The Met is gigantic. Even in a full day, you can only see a small part of the museum. If you only have two hours, the Met is still worth it. With works from all over the world and all different time periods, there really is something to interest anyone.

The Met is on Fifth Avenue beside Central Park. By subway, take the 4, 5, or 6 train to the 86th Street station. Walk west to Fifth Avenue and south to the museum.
