This 120+-year-old saloon is located near the River Walk in San Antonio. This Saloon/Museum features two exhibits, the Buckhorn Museum, and the Texas Ranger Museum. The Buckhorn Saloon & Museum also houses a cafe, a gift shop, and a shooting gallery. The Buckhorn Museum is a Texas wildlife museum. This section of the museum is home to the world-record-holding 78-point white tiled buck, a 1,056-pound fish, and a 10,000-year-old elk skull.
Buckhorn Museum
Today, the exhibit halls of what is now The Buckhorn Museum house well over 500 species of wildlife from around the world, including the legendary 78-point buck Friedrich purchased for $100 in 1890. A 1,056-pound black marlin and a 10,000-year-old Irish elk are among the other world records and even pre-historic animals featured.
The Buckhorn Saloon, an extensive wildlife and horn collection, three floors of furniture crafted from horns and antlers, and a collection of “Rattlesnake Art” are all part of this bizarre hybrid. The saloon features an 1890s-carved wooden bar made of cherry and walnut. As collectors loan their exotic pieces, the wildlife and horn collection continues to grow. Don’t miss Teddy Roosevelt’s gift, a chair made of sixty-two buffalo horns, in the furniture collection. The Buckhorn also features a Texas History Wax Museum and stage shows by gunslingers, cowboy singers, and trick ropers.
Texas Ranger Museum
The Texas Ranger Museum features a collection of Texas Ranger artifacts. Some of the artifacts include guns, photos, badges, and a small Ranger Town with a saloon, a jail, and a blacksmith shop.
Memorial Hall, adjacent to the Witte Museum, was built as part of the Texas Centennial in 1936 as a memorial to Pioneers, Old Trail Drives, and Texas Rangers. The Former Texas Rangers Association established a Ranger exhibit at Memorial Hall in 1973. This historic collection remained at the Buckhorn Museum until 2006, when the Former Texas Rangers Association partnered with it to open the Texas Ranger Museum. This world-class Texas Ranger exhibit provides the public with the opportunity to view priceless historical artifacts spanning more than a century of Ranger history. Ray Martinez, Joaquin Jackson, John B. Armstrong, and Frank Hamer are among the notable Texas Rangers represented in the collection.

The Buckhorn Saloon and Museum is your window to the rich historical past of San Antonio Texas, which is more than 120 years old. It was common for cowboys, hunters, and trappers to buy beer or whiskey in exchange for deer antlers from 1881 and onwards. The then saloon of Albert Friedrich is today?s Buckhorn saloon cum museum that showcases halls full of the most impressive collections of horns, feathers, and fins, representing exotic native wildlife and classic accounts of cowboys and hunters.

Carnival of Curiosities

San Antonio Riverwalk
