Top 7 San Antonio River Walk’s Best Restaurants
We have lived in San Antonio for many years now, and we have built up a pretty good repertoire of dining establishments we adore, ranging from little mom-and-pop businesses to magnificent fine dining, and the following are a few of our all-time favorites (it was so tricky to select!).
For a real gourmand, very few things are as interesting as a properly prepared dish – the moment every part comes together perfectly, it’s very nearly enchanting. In the meantime, a bad dish can mess up an otherwise enjoyable experience, so it’s smart to do some homework and browse around for feedback prior to choosing where to eat.
As if that does not make things complicated enough, there’s a whole lot more to bear in mind about a restaurant than only the cuisine! The ambiance of a restaurant can really make a difference in your entire experience, whether it’s snobby and rude personnel or a loud young child another table over. Nonetheless, it’s not all unpleasant, certainly – a terrific setting can change a pretty good dinner into an incredible dinner! Here’s what people on Yelp.com are saying with regards to our faves:
1. Biga On The Banks
Chef Bruce Auden’s Biga on the Banks is always a fabulous experience whether it’s a romantic dinner for two or a party or an intimate gathering for 300 — that’s right, Biga can handle your next BIG or small party.

It’s been almost 5 years since I had my wedding reception at Biga and the service has NEVER BEEN BETTER! We had an amazing reception for 35 people and they literally catered to our every need. No one had an empty glass of wine during our entire reception. The staff was extremely attentive and professional! Since our wedding, we have been back several times. The food is always perfection. We even took a chance and make reservations with our newborn and 2 years old. The kitchen made something special for our 1-year-old and even though we made a little bit of a mess, the staff acted like it was no problem at all! Very refreshing and surprising! Thanks, Biga! See you next time we are in town! – K C.
2. Boudro’s On the River Walk
We step into Boudro’s, a Texas bistro, and experience why it has been one of the most treasured and popular attractions on the San Antonio River Walk. Table-side guacamole and prickly pear margaritas on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Got some good clips of a Mariachi band serenading nearby as well. Boudro’s distinctive menu of Texas and southwestern specialties especially when it comes to breaking bread aboard one of its private river barges. Be sure to call ahead for reservations, and prepare to get well-acquainted with those seated around you. The service is amazing from the wait staff on-deck.

Tried Boudro’s for the first time and it won’t be the last! Really delicious and guacamole made tableside was fabulous! We had kids with us and since one wasn’t feeling good, I got to order a kid’s meal of grilled fish. It was outstanding! Other adults in our party tried shrimp and chicken and everyone loved their entrees! Suggest reservations–we went early and it was packed by the time we left! – Sue T.
4. Paesanos Riverwalk
San Antonio Texas is famous for its Tex-Mex, but it has some other great restaurants as well. One of my favorites is Paesano’s on the Riverwalk. It’s not the only Paesano’s in San Antonio, but it’s right on the river and has a special atmosphere.

Overall a really pleasant dining experience! The food was wonderful! Try the calamari..it was cooked to perfection. I wasn’t very happy with the wine I had chosen and with no explanation the waiter replaced it with one in which I was very pleased. Rob, our server, was very attentive and personable. I would certainly recommend this place to people and will be back.
One great big thanks to Rob for making it such a nice evening. – Lindsey O.
